This chart was originally conceived in my own DAW as a Trombone multitrack Funk song and it has since developed in a fan favorite head banger for the UNT One O’Clock Lab Band. It features Soprano Sax, Trombone, and Bari Sax while also including a soli for every section in the Gordon Goodwin style. It goes through a tricky metric modulation and comes out even funkier than it already was, and ends with a super-chorus for the ages. While inclusive of a wide variety of influences such as Rock, R&B, Funk, and even Dubstep at some points it also stays true to the big band tradition with use of doubles and mutes to broaden the textural pallet. This chart is no joke and has many extended techniques, range, and difficult rhythms and is most appropriate for professional bands.
*This version is simplified slightly to relieve the pressure of doubling. There are many spots where range can be taken down an octave in the brass to relieve this stress as well and make this chart achievable for a wider array of bands.
